Coastal Monuments, Moray, Scotland
Hi, things have been a bit quiet here on the webpage for the last couple of weeks as I have been away, way up in the north of Scotland on the Morayshire Coast. For security reasons I don’t like to make posts while I am away that are going to disclose the fact that I am not home. I apologise for the break in transmission.
I took plenty of photos though and I have started to make inroads into them, among all the other jobs waiting to be done. This is the first post of several.
First up its the Bow and Fiddle rocks just off the coast at Portknockie. I understand that the name of the formation derives from the fact that the shape is supposed to resemble a violin bow and fiddle ? I don’t see it myself. Apparently, and I can well imagine it, is that it is a favourite location for sunset photography. However I was there mid morning, bad timing.. There were numerous seabirds around, swooping and diving but I only had the one Fujifilm lens, the 16-55mm f2.8 with me. I left the Fujifilm 70-300mm lens back at base as I had the drone for long shots.
Next there was Findlater Castle a bit further along the coast just beyond Cullen. This was quite a walk from the car park to this deserted part of coast. The castle was built into the cliff originally but has now separated itself from the mainland somewhat. The view from the cliff top is not very good but fortunately I had my drone with me and was able to get four direction views.
